A Light-Filled Studio Session Welcoming Baby Giovanni
One of my favorite parts about opening my Jersey City studio has been getting to photograph families in such a calm, quiet space. There's no worrying about cleaning the house before I arrive, no moving furniture around for better light, just showing up and spending time with your new baby.
This sweet family came into the studio when their little boy was almost a month old, and he was an absolute dream. He gave us a little bit of everything: wide awake and curious at the beginning, then peacefully asleep for the rest of the session.
I always tell parents not to stress if their baby doesn't sleep right away. Some of my favorite photos happen while they're awake, looking around and taking everything in. Those tiny expressions disappear so quickly.
What I loved most about this session was how simple we kept everything. Soft neutrals, lots of white, and no elaborate props. I want your photographs to feel timeless so that twenty years from now they still look just as beautiful as they do today.
Of course, we also made plenty of time for family photographs. I know how tempting it is to say, "Just take pictures of the baby," especially when you've been surviving on very little sleep. But these first portraits together are some of the most meaningful images you'll ever have. Your baby won't care if your hair wasn't perfect—they'll care that they can look back and see how loved they were from the very beginning.
My newborn sessions are always baby-led. If we need to stop for feeding, changing, or cuddles, we stop. There isn't a clock we're racing against. The goal is for everyone to leave feeling relaxed, not stressed.
If you're expecting and looking for a newborn photographer in Jersey City, I'd love to welcome you into the studio. My style is simple, natural, and focused on your family rather than complicated props or trendy setups. These first few weeks go by so quickly, and it's such an honor to help families remember what they actually felt like.
